Greta sighed as she sat in her chair, sitting at the keyboard and staring at the monitor. Nothing. The newslatter was due day after tomorrow, and she hadn't even started it yet. But nothing would click- the knew the articles she had to write, but had idea how to start them.
With a sigh, Greta pushed her chair back and lifted her glass of wine. A quick sip, and she turned to the radio. The silence was getting to her.
"-ewsplus. Coming up, local news with Len Twirm."
A moments silence, then the voice of Twirm came on the radio. "In the latest news, there has been an escaped animal from Park Zoo. It's an anaconda, but do not be frightened. This animal is more scared than you are. If you sight the beast, please call Park Zoo immediately. It is not a dangerous snake, merely a confused and frightened snake.
"This is Len Twirm, on News-" Greta flicked off the radio nervously. Oh great. Life in town wasn't crazy enough, now the zoo was losing animals. She drained her glass of wine, then headed for the kitchen for another glass.
As she filled her glass from the carafe, she heard a tinkling of breaking glass down in the basement. "Oh Christ," she muttered, draining the glass and refilling it. "Damned cats."
She headed back to the study with her wine glass and the cool caraf of wine. Once sitting, she sipped her wine again and stared at the monitor.
"What if it wasn't one of the cats?" she asked herself, taking another full sip. "What if it was that anaconda?"
She drained the glass in a slow swig, scaring herself. It didn't matter that the cats had broken the basement window about 6 times already. She was scaring herself silly.
There was a sound out in the hall. "Oh God," whimpered Greta, wine glass chattering againbst her front teeth. "It's the anaconda! It's going to eat me!"
With a whisk and a slither, the door flew open and Greta screamed as her cat Onyx burst into the den. Greta almost broke a tooth as she bit the wine glass, feeling stupid as the cat wound around her legs.
"You little monster," said Greta, setting the wine glass on the desk and petting the cat. When suddenly the hat back up and hissed, eyes wide and fur bristling.
Greta turned back, her own eyes widening and the wine carafe falling from her hand. The anaconda from the zoo had already slid more than halfway into her den from the window, and Greta could feel her heart pounding!
The snake lifted it's great skull and stared at her with cold hard eyes as she felt herself becoming numb. "Oh God," she whispered... The whip snake tongue flickered at her, and the rest of the mighty snake slid through the open window.
Greta sat in her chair, unable to move, as the snake coiled around her feet, the great head flicking it's tongue as it did so.
"Please, whispered Greta, and gasped as the snake's snapped up, staring her in the eyes. Gtreta whimpered as the great snake head swayed before her, eyes unblinking. The great snake head pulled back a foot, and Greta gasped as the snake's jaws began to open... She felt a heat and wet as her bladder released, pissing down her legs, and the head dove forward as the snake struck!
Greta screamed dimly as the snake swallowed her head and shoulders deeply into it's throat, it's upper throat bulging with the shape and size of her. She could feel the muscled beast lifting her body from the chair, lettiong gravity furether drive her down the beasts throat.
The snake thrashed and shook, using gravity and muscles spasms to drive her furether down the throat, until she was swallowed down to the knees. Greta was screaming, alive and terrified in the beasts throat, being swallowed to it's hot tight belly. The anaconda swallowed again, and Greta slid deeper into it's throat, her head closer to the hot acid pit of the snake's belly. Now only her feet wiggled desperately in the anaconda's mouth.
Another swallow, and Greta was gone...
"This is Len Twirm, reporting a sad event," said Len with a deep voice. "That anaconda that escaped yesterday has claimed a young victim. Greta Zosel was eaten by the snake last night, we are sorry to report..."
Len looked at the caged anaconda. The body of Greta was still imbedded deep in the snake's belly.
"A tragic loss of life. But while Greta Zosel has passed on, the anaconda stays with us, sure to provide all with years of educational entertainment.
